Scooting
Simpler by scooter
Want to put some whizz into your journey? In a hurry but not keen on cycling? Getting back late and don’t fancy the walk? Oxford is a great place to scoot.
-
For a quick trip, you can rent electric Voi scooters all over Oxford, using the Voi mobile app. You can pay by the ride (£1 per hire + 20p per minute), buy a day pass for £8, or get a monthly pass, which gives you 300 minutes of riding for £40; or 750 minutes of riding for £55.
Scooters must be picked up from and returned to a designated parking bay. There are bays throughout Oxford and the number of bays is expanding all the time. You must be 18 or over, and have a provisional/driving license to ride a Voi scooter. Riding the scooters on pavement is illegal, and there are also no riding zones in Oxford that are visible from the map in the Voi app.
For more guidance about riding the scooters, see Voi's online training program.
-
With a traditional, foot-powered scooter, adults and children alike can get where they need to go faster than walking, but without the extra effort of looking for somewhere to lock your bike. You can also take a non-motorised folding scooter with you on the bus, train or into most destinations.
-
As long as you follow the rules and wear a helmet, scooting is no more dangerous than cycling. Voi offers safety webinars and online training program for those concerned about safely riding the scooters.

Benefits of scooting
Cheaper. Once you compare all the costs of a car, using Voi scooters for occasional or short journeys is far cheaper. And the monthly passes make them much cheaper.
Less stress. Unless you absolutely love looking for a parking space or getting stuck in traffic, journeys by scooter are a quick and easy way to get around.
Flexible. There are hundreds of parking bays, including at the main train and bus station, which will usually get you closer to your destination than any car park.
