Keira runs Little Oxplorers, a website that helps families find outdoor adventures in and around Oxford. She also likes to take her kids on their own adventures! Here are some of their favourite car-free trips:
I do quite a few car-free days out with my kids, not least because my youngest loves the bus, especially if it is a double decker. Travelling by bus means that the adventure starts before we get to our destination and we love seeing the world from a new perspective on the top deck!

Every trip is different. Our favourite places in town are often free: Museum of Natural History, the Weston Library and many of the colleges which are open to Oxford residents for free - a well kept secret! We also like to travel back from town a different way than we came and regularly cut back through University Parks and along the Marston cycle path, often spotting a deer or two along the way.

We are finding our cycling legs again now that my youngest is more confident on two wheels and we hope to join Kidical Mass again when it returns next year. I've been with my two older children before and cycling as a collective is very powerful, and brings with it a sense of community and shared experience.

We have started planning some ‘bus to, walk back’ trips including bussing it to Kidlington and walking back along the canal and to Swinford Toll Bridge then a walk back along the Thames Path. I also love Big Oxplorer walks which I do with friends, they are much longer ones that my children don't have the legs for...yet! The Oxford Jubilee walk is a favourite and one that can be picked up in many places across Oxford.
